FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • I am currently meeting with clients in California and New Mexico via secure video conferencing (or phone calls), and will continue to do so while Covid is a health concern for us and the broader community. If you have any questions about how remote/virtual sessions work, or how to ensure a secure and connected experience, I’m happy to talk with you more. I do hold a few sessions in person in Santa Fe, NM—please let me know if you are interested in this option.

  • I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to talk together about your specific situation and needs, give you a sense of how I work, and address any initial questions you may have. Deciding to work together should be based in part by how comfortable you feel with me, and whether you feel like I understand you and your needs.

If you'd like to move forward after we talk by phone, we'll then meet for an initial 50-minute session. At our first session, we'll talk more in depth about you, your situation, your hopes for therapy, and begin to explore some steps forward.

  • $230 for 50-minute individual sessions

$280 for 50-minute couple therapy sessions.

I offer a few reduced fee spots—feel free to ask me if these are available.

  • While I do not bill insurance directly, I can provide detailed receipts which you may use for possible reimbursement from your insurance and/or your Health Savings Account. It will be your responsibility to first confirm that your insurance carrier allows for a reimbursement option. There are now federal protections for clients—the “No Surprises Act”—regarding charges for Out of Network Services. Please see more information here.

  • For therapy to be most effective, meeting at least weekly is the best option. Some clients choose to come in twice a week, particularly during times of crisis or just to ensure a deeper and more consistent therapy process.

  • The length of time in therapy will depend on a variety of factors: the issues that brought you in, the intensity of your symptoms, your motivation to incorporate new insights and practices, and any unforeseen events that take place during the course of therapy. It is likely that you will experience some sense of relief or increased hope early on, simply because the experience of feeling heard and understood in therapy can help you to feel less alone and more able to address the issues that brought you in. We will continually check in during our work together to assess your goals and progress, and whether we are meeting your needs.
