Couples Therapy/ Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I work with couples from all walks of life, including people in heterosexual, same-sex, interracial and genderqueer relationships. In our work together, I provide a stable and nonjudgmental place to manage conflicts, express your needs, and develop a more loving and effective way of interacting. I strive to understand each person as an individual and as part of a couple, and will collaborate with both of you to identify destructive patterns of interaction as well as what each of you needs to feel accepted, trusting, understood, and loved.
I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy, and also draw upon skills from The Gottman Method and my years of experience working with people of diverse sexualities and genders. Emotionally Focused Therapy is an effective and well-researched approach that allows couples to experience interactions that foster safety, trust, and connection. The Gottman Method is based on the research of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, and includes valuable insights and skills for conflict management and establishing a foundation of fondness, admiration, and respect.
